1. Who we are
sendbypal is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting travelers with spare luggage capacity to senders who need documents and low-value items hand-carried. We operate as an intermediary under India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
2. What we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, profile photo
- KYC data: Aadhaar / DigiLocker verification token (we do not store the raw Aadhaar number)
- Connected accounts: LinkedIn, Instagram profile metadata (with your consent)
- Listing data: routes, dates, item categories, photos of packages
- Chat messages between matched users
- Device and usage data: IP, user agent, app version, crash logs
3. How we use it
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud
- To match travelers with senders on compatible routes
- To moderate listings for safety and legal compliance
- To resolve disputes and respond to grievances
- To comply with lawful orders from Indian authorities
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not process or hold payments between users
- We do not handle or take possession of physical items
- We do not sell personal data to advertisers
- We do not share your Aadhaar number with any third party
5. Your rights (DPDP Act 2023)
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to correction and erasure
- Right to grievance redressal (see section 7)
- Right to nominate someone to manage your data
6. Data retention
Account data: retained while your account is active and for 6 months after deletion. KYC verification tokens: retained for the period required by Indian law (typically 5 years). Chat data: retained for 2 years for safety and dispute resolution.
7. Grievance officer
As required by the IT Rules 2021, our Grievance Officer is responsible for addressing user complaints within 15 days.
8. Changes to this policy
We'll notify you of material changes via email and in-app notice at least 7 days before they take effect.
